PAUL SMITH VS. CHROMOPHOBIA

Double-decker buses even look more stylish wearing Paul Smith's trademark stripes!

Check out this video of British designer Paul Smith giving a tour of his recently opened San Francisco boutique. I just love his total lack of self-consciousness and his sense of humor.

OK, a perfect match....Paul Smith stripes on a MINI!

A spunky striped swimsuit.

Paul Smith has that innately British knack for being hip, quirky, smart, fun and stylish all at the same time. Talk about innovative, he has a uniquely cool philosophy when it comes to design and business. He celebrates color and infuses all realms of design with life and personality. He decries what he terms"chromophobia" and somehow manages to make most of the other design gurus look kind of stale and stodgy by comparison. I think that he has reinvented the wheel. And with great finesse!
Have a terrific weekend, everyone! I'd like to wish all of my US friends a wonderful Memorial Day Holiday.
See you back here next week!

Anne-I love Paul Smith-I was just at his store in SoHo. Nobody does stripes like he does. I had my heart set on a Hermes Mini Cooper, but I might have to switch to this one-fabulous! ;)

Love it all- bold, bright, snazzy,
especially the little Mini Cooper.
Can't go wrong with stripes!

I love his signature stripes and, like Missoni's trademark zig zag print, they're always in style.

I left my heart and my stripes in San Fran.
My fave designer is Paul Smith.
I am mad for him - and his art wall.

I'm a total design nube. I had never heard of this guy until reading this post - but I can honestly say I LOVE this style. That bus, and that mini mini? Swoon. That rug...I want that rug so badly now. I hope it's extraordinarily expensive so I can squash my desire like a gnat, otherwise I can see damage to my credit card sooner than later...

How beautiful and fun images. I also published a post(on April 29)on Paul Smith's being part of the Salone del Mobile in Milan, the event took place in a Neoclasical Milanese building, quite extraordinary images.

I love Paul Smith and I was in heaven in his shop at Heathrow airport! My favourite items are the ones featuring that striped mini, but that might be because I've had a mini and have a special bond with them! : )

Love the bus and the bathing suit (which may not be that flattering for those of us without lean athletic limbs to balance out the wavy lines...)

Now Ms Anne you must be corrected - that's not a double decker bus, that is a tram in Hong Kong!!See the line attaching from the top to the tram line (and I know it is in Hong Kong cause of the reference to "The Landmark" on the side, which houses 3 Paul Smith shops here:) There you go! xox

Love the double decker!! Tom actually met Paul Smith and gave him the idea for the stripes back in the 80's, both bike riders, you know what I mean ;)

I'm a huge fan - I'd LOVE to have that rug in the below post, and that swimsuit is super cute too. I think Fiona and I would look awesome in matching ones - if they only made them for toddlers too! hehe!
