IT'S NOT JUST FOR MOLLUSKS ANYMORE.....

Now available: shell habitats for humans. You don't have to be a slimy little creature who carries your home on your back to inhabit a shell. This errr....custom beauty is an actual home located in Isla Mujeres, Mexico. What do you think? Nice little place to "conch" out at the end of the day or a serious aesthetic infraction? You've got to admit, it's NOT generic. I guess it's a sort of modern-day Mexican take on the idea of the architectural "folly" popular in Europe a couple of centuries ago.

I hope you all have a fantastic and restful weekend!

P.S. The pun police will be issuing a warrant for my arrest, I know.

  5. Hmmmmm....I'm not sure what to say...it reminds me of something I'd see on SpongeBob SquarePants...not that I watch it, but my son used to.

    Happy spring!

  6. Oh Anne, it is so Tony Duquette. I adore it. I think shells are stunning and I have quite a collection. I think the sea urchin is so gorgeous and my favorite food in the world. I would incorporate a sea urchin in this design. I must save this picture. Thanks-you have a great weekend too!

  8. hmmmmmmm.......I simply can't decide but you make it sound like fun to "conch" out here. Too funny and it is warm and tropical there, so what's not to like.

  12. Wasn't it the movie Dr. Doolittle that had a huge shell home on the back of a snail? I was in love with it the first time I saw it as a child. Great post. I would love a home like that...now if it could be wired to have soothing wave sounds piped thruout, that would be perfection! I guess an ocean break outside would do!!

  22. Ok, now how much does one have to "shell out" to "conch" there, lots of "jumbo shrimp" - for a pearl of a shell. I sort of like it. It would be easy to give directions for guests to "coral" too.

  23. * OMG... I, um, well... I mean... um, it's F-U-N, I guess! Come to think of it, one might pay to stay there for a light-hearted, silly n' fun weekend, but to BUY as a vacation house? Um... wellllllll..... ANYhoo, THANKS for sharing this, kiddo!!! Smiles, Linda ***

  24. Hmm, not too sure on the idea of living in a theme park. I like the curves, but it all feels a little overdone.

  29. I love it! The white house and blue sky are so Greece, and it reminds me of a sea shell sculpture in front of a Key West high school. Very good call! I 'd love to live there and swim in the pool!
