I bought this shelving unit at West Elm several years ago - it's a great workhorse as it holds a LOT and I never get tired of the clean lines and simplicity of the design. The finish was a little worse-for-wear and I thought it was time for a little color. I found a color that was "Tiffany box-ish" yet not too strong. It turned out well and I was very pleased with the semi-lacquered finish and the dose of color it gives to my studio space. The only drawback was that there were a million flat surfaces to cover with my small roller and many coats to apply. Shampoo, lather, repeat and so on......BUT the results were worth it! Are you contemplating a furniture re-do in the near future?

Oh, I love the result, they look great. I have similar shelves to these, also in white, you've given me some inspiration now, I think it's time to give them some colour :)

This just shows you that color can make a huge difference. I think the safe way would be to leave it white but this cool blue and green makes all your hot oranges and pinks POP! Was it hard to add the top piece?
It's perfect!! Love the color and worth all the work. Did you change the wall color also? or did the blue bring out the creamy tones. Love that you featured the orange vase:)
I love it! I have two pieces in my house painted a light grayish blue. It's my fav.
I love it Anne, we have a similar piece from Ikea in black and I would have preferred white because I like lighter colors but the idea of all the sides prevented me from doing it...maybe I should tackle one square at a time Happy Monday!xo
Love it! So inspiring!
Love it! Great re-do. :)
It looks great Anne! I painted 3 tables in a pale blue from Sherwin Williams...I have another chair I just did in another color, but its amazing what a bit of color can do! ;-)
Wow, amazing transformation, totally worth it! =)

Anne,
We just never know when one good thing will lead to another, and another, and of course another!
Love the redo.

I just saw your bookcase on Laura Casey's blog - I love what you did to it. The color is great - It sounds like it was a lot of work but soooo worth it! Great job!
