I SPY....

Did you see this great post on fellow blogger and businesswoman Mackenzie Horan on the Glitter Guide?
I was "chuffed" to see that she had my ginger jar print hanging on her gallery wall (above)

Mackenzie carries some Annechovie products in her Design Darling store
(my matchboxes are on the windowsill here)

She has done a lot with 300 square feet in Manhattan!

Congratulations, Mackenzie!
Have a great weekend!

CHEVRON OVERKILL

I just had to post this!
I like Chevron as much as the next guy (or girl....) However, I cannot bring myself to paint it or to have it in my home. It was just emerging (again) about 6 years ago when I used it as a background for some of my silhouette paintings, but it has been beaten to death since then. It's one of those patterns that will define the last few years in decor and will look dated. So, I just can't do it. Oh, that and juju feather headdresses. What about you? Any design trend that you have seen enough of?

LAZY WEEK'S END

I have had a hectic week catching up on work after I have been away and so am a little behind with my blogging! I am leaving tomorrow for a weekend away with my husband. We are doing some more furniture shopping combined with beach time as we need to get things together and ordered since we are due to move into our new digs in about 3 weeks! Yikes.
Anyway, I saw this gorgeous, light-filled studio via The Design Files and it's a bit of an inspiration for my new studio (although I don't envision a hide rug on my floor somehow). The white shutters are already in place along with the wood floor, I just need to paint the walls white and I will be ready to go.....

These two images are not really pertinent, but just make me feel happy. The good thing about being an independent blogger is that you can post whatever you want for apparently no good reason, right?

Don't you love how Bonnard captured the light in this painting? Timeless!
Have a wonderful weekend and I will see you next week.

MOVING ANNOUNCEMENT

Happy Monday!
I'm getting caught up on work today after a busy weekend away. I just wanted to share a commissioned illustration I completed for some great clients who are sending out a moving announcement.

THE HUNT CONTINUES

We both love French bistro chairs and picked these up for our kitchen

Part of last weekend was spent perusing some stores for furniture and interesting pieces to furnish our home.
Fortunately for me, I am blessed with a patient husband who also happens to be on the same page with me, as well as having a great eye himself. Our only major difference is his love for leather furniture (which seems to be a part of the American male's DNA). I get it that leather is practical and generally pretty comfortable, however, it is also furnishing the homes of 90% of the population and being a non-conformist, I resist capitulation and going with the crowd.

Of course I couldn't resist snapping a pic of this oversized ginger jar!

Love this table and the color of these vases. The Chinoiserie bamboo chairs are beautiful, too.

The color of these walls is so soothing. Hmmmm....

I am majorly attracted to oval shapes, especially tables.
We're headed to Dallas this weekend to visit family, so furniture hunting will have to wait.
Have a wonderful weekend and I will see you back here next week!

MEAN GREEN

Fauchon pastries are little works of art

Bike+basket=charming

Hello and welcome to the first Monday in August. I cannot believe August is here already!
This Summer is racing by. So much is going on and with getting married this Summer and now buying a new place and getting ready to move in, I'm a little swamped trying to keep up with Annechovie orders, commissions and blogging.
So, please excuse this post being a little lame. I do love the green, though, do you? I also apologize for the fact that I've been so remiss responding to comments and visiting all of my friends and favorite blogs. I do miss you all and will be back on track very soon.

TREASURE HUNTING

My husband and I are in the process of buying a new home, so last Saturday I dragged him out scouting for some pieces for the new place. He was very patient and we shared some good laughs as we meandered through some shops looking for "unique" pieces. Unique we did find.  There was the good, the bad and the ugly.  Unfortunately, we saw more ugly than we did good, and didn't come away with any treasures, but it was entertaining at the least. These Staffordshire pieces above were good finds, but I wasn't exactly in the market for them.

We both liked these bamboo nesting tables and I'm debating picking these up later on if they haven't been snagged.

There were plenty of tacky and musty items, this being one of them.

Then there was the the Liberace bedroom set.  The gaudy motif/style reminded me of  those old carousels at amusement parks. Apparently, some lucky person had already laid claim to it. Go figure!

The hunt continues and at least my curiosity was satisfied. I realized that I am not really missing anything at my local consignment/antique shops. I have my eye on some new, unused items and we will see how it all comes together!
Have a great weekend!!
