As an artist, I am constantly either repulsed by badly designed packaging or enthralled by beautiful packaging. Lately my eye has been captured by the Italian line Ortigia. I have not tried any of the products (cha-ching) but the beautifully designed "housing" of the containers and boxes leaves me with the impression that what's inside is probably of primo quality. The line is a bit hard to find in the US but it is available online here. The scarcity kind of makes it even more appealing...... Have you tried this line yet?

I've never heard of it but have to admit, I'm also a sucker for fabulous packaging :)
Oh Anne...my cabinets are filled with pretty packaging. It's at least 50% of the reason that I buy a product. and sometimes I keep boxes (Hello simple, elegant Jo Malone perfume box - the scent disappears after five minutes but your lovely existence in my jewelry drawer has made up for it tenfold...)
I haven't tried it but do love their packaging. I've always loved the packaging for fragrances and skincare - but then being a graphic designer, I guess that's to be expected! Love that green box.
Anne, I haven't, the packaging is fabulous and I bet the products are lucsious!

I haven't even heard of it. They should send you some for free, just because you advertised for them.. Looks interesting and the design is clever. yvonne
Their packaging is gorgeous. A friend just gave me an Orange Blossom glycerine soap of Ortigia. Gold with silver, 2 leopards with a palmtree in the middle. It smells good too :))
Have never tried nor heard of this brand, but now completely intrigued...that first one has hooked me!
I have not heard nor seen this line yet. I'm a sucker for quality well made boxes with pretty graphics. That said I would hope what's in side is equally as nice.
i'm with you Anne. Whenever i see the ortigia brand i get mesmerised by the packaging. it is quite popular here.
i had one of their soaps (can't remember the name, but spelled of orange blossom) and it was divine!
jxx
Oh, pretty!! I am the same way... Although I think I take it a step further. If I see really bad presentation or stupid advertising, I boycott the products as punishment because it pisses me off. If I see something totally brilliant, I totally support it!! Sam calls it "consumer whore" haha but it ISN'T!! There are so many creative people in this world. I think they should be rewarded and promoted :)
Hope you had a wonderful weekend Love!

I feel strongly that Italian design is 2nd to none....smiles.
you are not kidding.
the last image is fascinating...
i want to sniff it!!!!
great packaging. no doubt about it.
xx
Packaging is a make or break for me....it says so much, you just can't wait to see what is inside!
xo
Love packaging...the 1st is my favorite...the packaging is usually half the reason I buy a product!
I have not, but like you, I'm pulled in by the packaging. So beautiful.
OMG! i love this line! We spent a week in Ortigia last year and, cheesy or not, I had to pick up the namesake soaps and body lotions. Beautiful packaging, and beautiful smell. I know it's silly but I rarely use them for fear of running out! Thanks for the stateside source!
Sadly I have not tried it yet but such lovely packaging! xx
The packaging certainly is interesting! Talk about marketing!!
Absolutely love the packaging -- it's so Roman!
I just ran across your blog and saw this post. I studied in Ortigia, Sicily last summer and frequently studied in the pasticceria where this line is sold - LOVE this product. Great stuff.
