A CHARLIE BROWN CHRISTMAS?

Can you believe it's December today? Where did 2008 go?
Yesterday was a rare rainy day here in South Florida, so it was a perfect afternoon to get some Christmas decorations up and get into the Christmas mood a little. I am never one to want to rush holidays or jump the gun, but, for some reason, this year I am more eager to get into it.
Putting up the tree just isn't as festive without a great soundtrack, so this year it had to be one of my favorite classic standbys, Vince Guaraldi's "A Charlie Brown Christmas". I am a total sentimental sap and I grew up watching "A Charlie Brown Christmas" every year on TV. Seeing it when I was little, I was moved by it's poignancy and I used to cry and try to hide my tears from my parents. So that, coupled with the fact that I am a real jazz lover, makes this a winning pick. It's mellow and comforting and festive all at the same time. I also love this little replica of Charlie Brown's Christmas tree that is available here. There's something so winsome about it, it's sparseness standing in stark contrast to other trees. Just makes me smile. Has anyone else done any holiday decorating yet? What is your favorite holiday soundtrack?

Anne-
Just saw the "Nutcracker" yesterday at Lincoln Center and for me - I have always loved the holiday music - and of course "Bing" Crosby crooning away...
Love Charlie Brown too.
Make merry....

I love the Charlie Brown soundtrack, too! My favorite album is a very low budget album made by several Seattle women, called Modern Angels. I can't find it ANYWHERE - so if my humble tape ever breaks, the music will be gone forever. My tape is not even original - friends made me a copy probably 15 years ago.

We have a few decorations up, but will get our tree next weekend.

Oh, I just love watching the Charlie Brown Christmas! We still watch it every year! Got my tree up on Friday and the Christmas CD's are all loaded in the car so I can keep in the Spirit as I am driving clients about town.

Working on the outdoor lights now!

I LOVE this time of year!! :)

I love this little Charlie Brown tree! It would be fun to put in the guest room.

I like all the old and new holiday music. We put up our decorations and tree this weekend.

Growing up I use to love watching White Christmas and imagine living in Vermont.

Cute little Charlie B tree! I love holiday music(just not too early in the season) ,usually a mix of tapes, favorites, that include artists such as Kenny G, Michael Bolton,Ncolette Larson, etc. So far I have put a large topiary with mini lights outside the front door. A wreath, holiday pillows and some Fitz and Foyd favorites. Oh, and candles surrounded by holly berries.

I thought I already commented on this. I LOVE the Vince Guaraldi soundtrack so much. My other favorite is Chet Atkins East Tennessee Christmas. It's mostly fancy pickin' and that's not usually my thing but it's perfect.

I also think your new favorite song is mine now, too...
