Here's another painting by my father, recently completed from a vintage photo he had of this scene. In it is the hotel he lived at during his brief residence on the island of Mallorca as a teenager in the mid '60's with his parents and sisters. He lived there for only $2 a day - and that included a 5 course dinner. I would love to live in Spain for a while and have an opportunity to paint and soak up the wonderful culture there! Both a print and the original of this piece are available - interested persons can contact me here.

What a talented father! Obviously in the genes. Two dollars a day including a five course meal sounds like my kind of place! x
$2 - wow, now that is incredible. I thought I had it good, coming to NY and paying a mere $72 a week for room and board and meals...at a ladies boarding house on 34th street. Full of characters, stories and material for life.
I love the stories behind your father's work, perhaps a book would be nice, for children. (those who refuse to grow up - like me!)

what a lovely tribute to your dad & on fathers day.
he was a wonderful artist....and YOU are obviously his daughter.

Wow - how amazing that he had an opportunity to live there at such a young age. I can only imagine how much fun he and his siblings had! I've never been to Spain, but it's on my list. We almost drove there from Portugal once...but decided to just enjoy our little town instead.
Your father has such vision and talent, it is obviously in the family! A trip back to visit that special spot in Mallorca would be a dream. The photo below is so heartwarming.
Anne-Lovely-my parents had dear friends with a villa in Mallorca and we visited several times. It brings back great memories.
What a great thing to do. Love the painting! Have a fabulous day!

$2.00 a day! Can you imagine? I would be so well travelled! And, of course, a lovely painting!
Would that we could return to a time and place where $2 could buy you wonderful meals and a warm bed.
Beautiful painting by the way.
What a charming seascape and a charming story...
5-course dinners...
Ah days of yore...
Thanks Anne
Great showcase of memories. This is a wonderful painting, colorful, inviting and beckons summer days of long ago.
Thanks for sharing!
