As some of you who have been reading this blog for the past 4 years may know, I am a clean freak and a slight germaphobe! That said, I do like my soap and prefer to use something that smells wonderful and has great packaging to boot. I am not currently in the market for a soap dispenser, but if I was, this Banho Portugese soap would be next on my list. I believe in spending a decent amount to get a great dispenser, but I have to admit that I care more about the soap having attractive packaging than the actual luxuriousness/authenticity of its origins. As long as the soap smells great and is effective, I am not a snob and certainly not picky about which actual soap is in the great container......
My studio sink
My soap (although I cheated and re-filled it with patchouli-scented soap). The authentic Savon de Marseilles soaps are great, but the best thing about them is the glass container and the fact that no matter how cheap the soap you may re-fill the dispenser with, it always looks fantastic! Definitely worth the initial investment many times over. What do you use and which brand appeals to you the most?
Here's hoping that you all have a fantastic weekend!

A hotel I was staying at had Bvlgari soap, I think it was the green tea one. It was divine!! but I probably wouldn't buy it myself.. I'm with you, re use the pretty packaging :)
Anne I love the colours that surround your studio sink, they are fantastic - they are so very summery and make me wish for sun and warmth instead of cold and rain:) Have a great w/end

Hi Anne,
Long time, no chat !!!! So sorry that I've been absent but, I have had MASSIVE computer and Blogger problems....HUGE !!!!....and, since getting back to normal, you seem to have slipped under the radar as far as commenting is concerned so, many apologies.
I love a good liquid soap and have had many. Savon de Marseilles is lovely and, I like Molton Brown, L'Occitane, Philosophy's Amazing Grace and, Liz Earle. They all smell divine.
Hope that you are well and selling lots of your work. Much love. XXXX
me too - love nice smelling soaps and pretty dispensers. There are so many that I love....need one at every sink!

I have a special weakness for Portuguese soaps too! Isn't the packaging amazing? Not quite as precious as some, which I prefer, yet still so beautiful. And the scents are great too. :) I wrote about them here after a trip to Portugal, if you're interested and haven't already seen it: http://bjdhausdesign.blogspot.com/2010/12/loving-portuguese-soaps.html
Don't worry you are not alone, I too am a soap serial fanatic and yes I do often save the containers (the really pretty ones) and reuse...hey why not! I buy Seda France all the time, I have them everywhere and I like Molton Brown, I have gotten them from Bath and Body works too, which are really reasonable..they make a scent called cotton blossom which I love....so thats a good one too!
Ha! I just wrote something similar on the Style Key West blog about olive oil.
I am a true sucker for pretty packaging. And reusing a favorite dispenser is a good idea. I like how Method sells soap as refills in addition to in bottles. But my favorite soap right now comes from Trader Joe's: Orange Blossom Honey. Even my husband who looks sideways at soap that might make him "smell like a girl" admits that this hand soap smells really good.
I need to try these both Anne. I didn't know that Banho came in a liquid form. I am guilt of refilling a bottle that I love. I do that with my kitchen soap. I love Mrs. Meyers products for their scents. Makes cleaning almost (almost!) fun. Have a great weekend Anne. x Deb
Oh I'm a sucker for great packaging...
And I love soaps...I'm quite a germophobe too, I wash my hands so many times a day and I can't pick up a trash by my bare hands... oh too much info there ♥
Have a nice weekend!
Those are a few of my personal faves! Happy weekend! Jennifer
I love your studio sink and I too love soaps, bubbles, etc etc. In soaps I like Yves de Lorme and no other although there are excellent soaps everywhere. I also adore the almond line in l'Occitane. Where did you get those lovely jars?
So beautiful! xoxo
I love the packaging for Banho also, and am also guilty of re-filling the Savon de Marseille...Like Deb I am into the Mrs. Meyer's soaps, their scents are just amazing, and when I have guests they always ask about it. I think I could seriously be a "soap addict", and have far too much of it!
Have a sudsy Sunday!
Nathalie
I like your trifle apron!
Good idea!!! i make the same ;)
