UNCOMMON GOODS ART

Kate Lewis

I have long been a fan of Uncommon Goods and their range of nifty and eclectic gifts. I was somehow unaware that their selection included art until I recently discovered that they carry the work of some great artists, one of whom many of us in the blogosphere are quite familiar - one of our own community, Kate Lewis. I discovered Kate via a blog a couple of years ago and and she even comments here on Annechovie from time to time. Love her style and use of color!
Another artist I was unfamiliar with is Zlatka Paneva. She is based in Los Angeles and blends both pop art/surrealism to work her magic portraying members of the animal kingdom.

Be sure to check out all the latest art from Uncommon Goods here, you'll be glad you did and might be able to find some great solutions for this Summer's busy gift-giving occasions.

GALLERY AT HOME

Gallery walls are no longer just a trend

(via Absolutely Beautiful Things)

more and more art lovers and homeowners are incorporating them into their decor

(via Ivy & Piper)

whether with just small groupings or entire walls covered

There are no real "rules" per se, but mapping a grouping out on the floor or with paper templates taped on the wall beforehand can be helpful, that way you don't make any unnecessary holes in the wall.

If you are looking for a more versatile way to hang art and change around displays, check out these options for a picture hanger

You don't have to stay with any one frame color or size, variety - as long as it is visually harmonious - can add a lot of interest and make your display unique!

VERANDA AND HARRISON HOWARD

I was excited to see this gorgeous piece by my friend, Harrison Howard - talented artist and color master extraordinaire- in the current issue of Veranda.  His work is truly unique and in a league of its own. This beautiful giclee is being offered on his site here. What a lovely Mother's Day gift it would make for the Chinoiserie buff or art lover.
Harrison is a delightful person, as well as a true master. You can read my interview with him from 2008 here

Have a wonderful weekend!
