Now available: shell habitats for humans. You don't have to be a slimy little creature who carries your home on your back to inhabit a shell. This errr....custom beauty is an actual home located in Isla Mujeres, Mexico. What do you think? Nice little place to "conch" out at the end of the day or a serious aesthetic infraction? You've got to admit, it's NOT generic. I guess it's a sort of modern-day Mexican take on the idea of the architectural "folly" popular in Europe a couple of centuries ago.
I hope you all have a fantastic and restful weekend!
P.S. The pun police will be issuing a warrant for my arrest, I know.

Looks like a redesign of the Flintstones house. Very cute. Hayley
Not usually into novelty houses but this has a certain charm and would probably make a great holiday house! Have a great weekend! Tracey xx
I am not sure about forever living with my home on my back but for a weekend in Mexico, I am in. Have fun this weekend Anne, xv.
I bet whoever lives there is 'happy as a clam'... o.k., sorry! Have a great weekend Anne.
Hmmmmm....I'm not sure what to say...it reminds me of something I'd see on SpongeBob SquarePants...not that I watch it, but my son used to.
Happy spring!
;-D
Oh Anne, it is so Tony Duquette. I adore it. I think shells are stunning and I have quite a collection. I think the sea urchin is so gorgeous and my favorite food in the world. I would incorporate a sea urchin in this design. I must save this picture. Thanks-you have a great weekend too!
Looks very Guadi-esqe. Not my first choice, but interesting I suppose! It would be no fun if we were all the same type.
hmmmmmmm.......I simply can't decide but you make it sound like fun to "conch" out here. Too funny and it is warm and tropical there, so what's not to like.
Have a great weekend.
Makes me smile! To each their own, right? Happy weekend Anne! xo
i love that white and blue plus the pigeons could sit on all those little shell ledges!
Cute - I love it!
Well it looks fun and the owner must be creative.
Wasn't it the movie Dr. Doolittle that had a huge shell home on the back of a snail? I was in love with it the first time I saw it as a child. Great post. I would love a home like that...now if it could be wired to have soothing wave sounds piped thruout, that would be perfection! I guess an ocean break outside would do!!
Quelle superbe maison! j'adore, elle est si originale.
Pascale
I'm not sure it would be my first choice to own, but it would make for great vacation photos!
Well I think its just to kool.I like it.And I'm not slimmy at all.XXOO Marie Antionette
HOW FUN !!!!!
dreamy.
i think it fab.
that's a great house.
What a fun house that would be to live in for a week or two? I love the creativity!
Do you think they had too many margaritas when they designed this house? Or maybe I did, cuz I kind of like it for a second home. Thanks Anne for sharing! Have a golden weekend!
Quite the spectacle! but still in good taste!
How cute!! I think it is fun for a vacation home!
Hey...ya gotta give 'em gold stars for uniquness...no??
Conched out...love it!
Ok, now how much does one have to "shell out" to "conch" there, lots of "jumbo shrimp" - for a pearl of a shell. I sort of like it. It would be easy to give directions for guests to "coral" too.
* OMG... I, um, well... I mean... um, it's F-U-N, I guess! Come to think of it, one might pay to stay there for a light-hearted, silly n' fun weekend, but to BUY as a vacation house? Um... wellllllll..... ANYhoo, THANKS for sharing this, kiddo!!! Smiles, Linda ***
Hmm, not too sure on the idea of living in a theme park. I like the curves, but it all feels a little overdone.
I would love to live in that house...well, for awhile - how fun. But I would be happy in just about little vacation spot in Mexico. Thanks for sharing!
I love how crazy it is... And that blue sky!
I can't lie. I kind of LOOOOOVE it!!!!
Ahhhhh ... that is a TRIP! How funny. Some sort of amusement park attraction of a house. I don't think I could live there.
I love it! The white house and blue sky are so Greece, and it reminds me of a sea shell sculpture in front of a Key West high school. Very good call! I 'd love to live there and swim in the pool!
I think it's adorable.
What a fun little vacation spot!
Fresh idea for Wasaga Beach! (I think)
As a vacation home, I would love to own this house.
I have never seen anything like it, just fabulous!
yay! my husband and i saw this house on a moped ride through the island! it was 140 degrees & i was 6 months pregnant and holding on for dear life!
